RedrumSociety – It’s Too Late
Written by: Lee Callaghan
Adding to their already impressive catalog of great, potential hit singles, RedrumSociety is back with It’s Too Late, a clever rocking number geared at entertaining and challenging their listeners. This satirical look at popular music and the marketability of the artists transcends the overall theme while providing a catchy chorus, innovative hooks, and infectious melodies. Featuring a brilliant music video that is quickly racking up the likes since its November 19 release, It’s Too Late is racy, edgy, strikes a defiant tone that compliments the lyrical ideas. Coupled with rich metaphor and clever imagery, It’s Too Late really pushes the idea of consumerism, and the marketability of the pop icon. It’s Too Late is presented from the point-of-view of a lover partner being betrayed, and taken advantage of, not fully appreciated by that can be compared to the pop consumerism machine which consumes all of us. RedrumSociety incorporates diverse instrumentation featuring a stand-out walking bass funk which underlies the high register vocals. The dynamic synths which syncopate this underlying funk create such musical chemistry that we clearly see the professionalism and maturity of this group of young artists on their way to creating their winning formula which will put them into the higher echelon of Indie/Experimental Rock.
The production on It’s Too Late is well-executed with plenty of headroom allotted in the mix which allows this track to be played back at high volumes distortion-free and all the overtones reproduced crisp and clear. It’s Too Late would make an excellent addition to any commercial Alternative Rock, Indie –Rock radio format. I can see this single placing on many streaming playlists, as it appeals to a vast, diverse audience. Other possible avenues for this single would be licensing to film, as the quirky nature of the vocals, and broad musical soundscape would resonate in film, as it does on the official video. It’s Too Late is a highly enjoyable track that clearly entertains the audience, yet it does challenge the listener as the clever metaphors ring true with that diverse audience. As a follow-up to the critically received smash single, Seeing Things, these contrasting views in It’s Too Late clearly show the limitless possibilities of this group, RedrumSociety.
